Wolves is a beautiful creature
Katherine Jean, a.k.a K.J. was a 16 years old who lived with her dad,
Samuel who was a fish guide. On her first senior high school day, she met a new
comer, Virgil from Minnesota whose mom was a wolf scientist. The journalism
teacher gave K.J. and Virgil a task to report news about wolves in Yellowstone.
After the report, appeared 2 groups of people, pro-wolves and
anti-wolves. The contrary one was Martins family, who were rancher and the
owner of cattle. The climax of the dispute was in Christmas parade, that
someone fired a shotgun to Virgil wolf-shaped ice, and emerged a petition about
wolf’s decimation. Finally, the person who set the shotgun was known. He was
William Martin, and the petition was cancelled.
The best character in this novel is, Samuel, K.J.’s dad. He is a
protective dad, since his wife was dead when K.J. was six. He doesn’t want his
beloved daughter is caught in the trouble. But he also gives a chance to his
daughter to prove what she can. I think all good fathers should be like him,
give his children a freedom but also protect them.
The worst event in this novel is when Will fire a gunshot to the
Virgil’s ice in Christmas parade and makes a crowd is panic. K.J.’s dad is punched by panic-crowd, and
Virgil’s life is almost end at that time. I think it is not what to do if you
hate someone or something, because it is very dangerous and full of risk.
The best expression in this novel is, “A pattern is only a pattern if
you follow it. Change the pattern.” (Kristen Chandler, p.351). Well, I interpret the word pattern as fate or
destiny. Sometimes you cannot blame the destiny, if you don’t try to change it.
It is an inspiring quote, and we can use it in our real life.
